I love the Clydesdale ones. They enchant me. E-trade Baby has a friend. It was so stupid it made me laugh. I was watching something on CBS about old Super Bowl commercials and it occurred to me…they don’t make 3D Doritos anymore, do they? Remember the commercial with the girl in the laundromat and Jack from _Will and Grace_? ---

so far the horsies are the best. loved the clydesdale at the races. not fond of bugs, i do like sobe, their ads not so much. ---

My favorite so far has been the Heroes/John Elway commercial. Of course, that’s basically my weekly fantasy–“Please let Elway swoop in and save my Broncos. Please let Elway swoop in and save my Broncos!” But it never happens. The remake of the Mean Joe Greene commercial cracked me up. ---

Deadspin did a pretty good job of laying out why there aren’t any good Super Bowl commercials. Too much money at stake, on too big of a stage to take any chances at doing something interesting. Companies also want something that they will be able to play more than once, instead of as a one-and-done shot on the Super Bowl. In addition to trying to drive traffic to a viral website, or whatever other nonsense some marketing suit thinks is important (i.e. nothing creative). The [cars.com](http://cars.com) one held my attention. The Audi commercial with Statham was pretty good. Everything else has been predictable, lazy, uninspired, and/or cheap. Cash4Gold was actually better than I expected; at least they didn’t have that creepy guy giving his usual spiel. (Though that doesn’t mean I liked it.) Question about one of the ho-hum Budweiser commercials: why was the allegedly 3rd generation Clydesdale speaking with a Scottish accent? I know that the idea of a talking horse is ridiculous in itself, but if we assume there is a talking horse (Mr. Ed excluded) that has been here for multiple generations, he would not be speaking with a Scottish accent. ---

That GE commercial with the jar is old. I swear I’ve seen it on Sunday mornings during Meet the Press for at least a year. ---
