The usage isn’t anything new, just the marketing. Pinaud Clubman Lilac Talc was always understood to be used to keep things pleasant (Errol Flynn was rumored to have augmented it with cocaine to make things _really_ pleasant). Though still labeled as talc, it’s now compiled with vegetable starch, like all baby powders; since, post-asbestos, the real concern about introducing flaked rock into the orfices. Though Yardley London still contains actual talcum. ---

Thanks for the backstory. I’ve not seen any of those ads, but I don’t watch much commercial TV in any country, much less the UK. Makes complete sense now. And yeah, not a good look in the ads nor with the idjit in Los Angeles. Life imitates art, or does art imitate life? ---
