Not explosively, but in the past month or so, I’ve noticed a handful of commercials where someone says “Boom” almost as punctuation.

One was a guy on the couch, and apparently he bought the right cheese or whatever. After his wife compliments him on it, he says “Boom” but what’s it supposed to mean? Then today, I saw a commercial for fertilizer, and again, someone says “Boom.” I guess it’s good.

Is this supposed to mean something, or is it just the latest fad?

Not all that new. David Spade used it in _The Emperor’s New Groove_ in 2000.
