I don’t hate the Publix commercial with the dog who gets left outside during Christmas dinner, and the baby who saves him. There’s a new Toyota commercial where a girl receives an old camera from her grandmother and sets out to replicate some of the pictures her grandmother took with it, and then gives her a photo album with the old and new pictures. It’s a bit sentimental, I suppose, but I know some of those places. I’eve eaten at the Frisko Freeze. I never did go to the Java Jive, but drove past it a million times. There’s a certain irony in Toyota using Tacoma landmakrs to sell their Tacoma pickup. (I’ve only seen the long version online. There’s a shorter version on TV that cuts out the Java Jive.) I like the Pedigree commercial where the dad is feeding the baby in a highchair, and the kids face is all messy. He goes to get a towel and comes back to find the kid’s face is clean. The camera pans over and the dog licks it’s chops. ---

This commercial was the one that set me off all those years ago in the annoying commercial thread! I just looked-- original post was in 2017! I did notice this commercial was playing again. One girl’s annoying is another’s don’t hate. ---

Ewwww. Funny, I came here today to find Commercials I DO HATE. I find this icky on all levels - smeared food on face and dog licking it off? I want to barf. Two unappealing things = irrational hatred off the chart. ---

Years ago, I was visiting my college roommate and his then wife and arrived at their house just before she returned from grocery shopping. She put their six-month-old daughter down on the sofa while she put the groceries away. So I sat on the other sofa to keep an eye on the baby. As their German Shepard puppy was wandering around, he went up to the baby and affectionately licked her on the cheek. The baby responded with a look of absolute disgust, which I found hilarious. So I like that commercial. ---

Well, one good thing, studies have shown that children raised in close contact with animals have much better immune systems than children who weren’t. ---

The expression on the child’s face makes me think that the dog was actually allowed to ‘clean’ the child’s face off-camera. (I think it’s cute, but I also grew up with a dog who occasionally thought she needed to help me clean my face after a meal.) ---

The kid looks doped up to me. Of course my kids played in close contact with dogs we had. But my girls were a bit Lucy-ish. Kinda eww-ed them out. They got actually butt-hurt if the dog snatched their cookie or cracker. I tried to keep that part down to the bare minimum. We had this one dog, a Rat terrier who would jump up and grab food you were fixing to put in your mouth. She was a ninja. She ambushed us all once in awhile. Many times I laughed seeing my kid, mouth open, staring at their empty hand. ---

To be clear, I do not think it’s gross or weird that the dog licks the baby’s face. I think it’s gross that dad says, “That works!” and doesn’t clean the baby’s face. CLEAN YOUR DANG BABY’S FACE! ---

Progressive has started running a series of commercials with two pigeons sitting on the back of a bench with a Progressive ad painted on it. I’ve found all of them pretty amusing, particularly one where one of them talks about being able to save enough money to fly south, and the other points out that they don’t migrate. Then the first pigeon clarifies that he doesn’t mean migrating, and it cuts to the pigeon sitting in an airplane.
