I honestly don’t think he’s an intentional troll. I believe he’s just a wet behind the ears middle schooler who’s recently discovered the power of rhetoric. _Other people’s rhetoric_, that is. His biographical posts here are simply too contradictory to have any other meaning. When he grows up, maybe, just maybe, he’ll look back on his support for the most murderous scum of all time and shake his head at what kind of naïf he was. Or he’s just another kind of WONJCT, this time the CT being how the world is only divided into two: big ol’ evil America vs. Wonderful Sweet Kind Decent Communism. And the only measure of a person’s or country’s actual value is how anti-American they are. As he’s purely anti-American (while at the same time, according to his own posts, either intentionally becoming an American or illegally participating in American democracy by voting illegally as a non-citizen, thus enjoying the benefits of a viable democracy), his perception of his own worth must be off the scale. No, he’s too simplistic in his stupidities to be above middle school level. ---

Has he ever articulated what his communism and anti-Americanism are _for_? That is, does he ever espouse any values, or just the rhetoric? Pretty much every human value I can think of would be trampled either in the achievement or the fulfillment of his rhetoric, if that were possible. ---

Debating with him is as bad as debating with any CTer. He generally doesn’t believe cites unless they are his own cites. To him, any cite from any source other than that of a reliable Communist (and we are talking about huge amounts of No True Scotsman counters at ever turn) is unreliable. Look at how he views any information about Libya or Iran just in this latest thread. If it’s not coming directly from the source (as if Libya or Iran would never consider spinning a story or out right lying about something) he simply puts his hands to his ears and doesn’t listen. That said, I think he IS trolling. I mean, just look at his OP and some of his subsequent posts. Only a complete idiot is going to think that ‘we’ are all upset by the possibility that the revolutionary government of Iran might go tits up, or that that clown in Libya has ‘tirelessly pursued policies of pan-Arabism and pan-Africanism’ or that the current uprisings are ‘entirely revolting and unacceptable’. :dubious: I mean, ok…I get that he seriously has a hard on about American and hates the country (he’s probably a citizen which isn’t surprising). Der Trihs is much the same on that score. The difference is hard to define, but to me it’s there. Der comes across as, well, ‘real’. He’s freaking bat shit nuts sometimes, and on anything that pushes his buttons he’s completely over the top…but it’s genuine bat shittery and over-the-toppedness. Commissar, IMHO, seems…less genuine. More an affectation. More…deliberate. Like he’s trying to get a rise out of people. Even Le Jacquelope, who I also consider to be a complete troll, is more genuine about his nutty world view. I believe that Le Jac believes everything he is saying, whole heartedly. This guy…I’m not buying it, especially after this latest thread. -XT ---

At this point, yeah, I am convinced that he’s making up a ton of his schtick. I was originally interested in “talking” to someone from a culture that I find so fascinating (Soviet Union) but I have tossed him a few bones, and he ignores them. I really do think he’s a troll at this point. ---

Of course, you have to take it all with a grain of salt. To me, he SOUNDS like a born and bred (perhaps inbred) self hating American…if even that is real. I’ve certainly met my share of folks like that (Der is like that), but it doesn’t ring as true with this guy. I will say that he does seem to have actually read a lot of the writings of Marx and Engels (or he’s got really good Google-Fu skilz). However, his posts come across as someone who studied the writings in college, then built a construct personality of a modern communist thinker. A person who really believes in the subject wouldn’t say they are too valuable to be relegated to simply teaching English…they would see their proper place as simply one more cog in the mechanism of society, willing to fit in where needed.
