I thought that was Miracle Whip.

Texture issue. I like the flavor just fine ( I’m good with bannana nut bread for instance ), but the texture of the whole fruit doesn’t do it for me. I can only tolerate them if they’re slightly underripe, if that. I have a couple of friends who are tomato haters ( I love them ) and it’s a texture problem for them as well. Meanwhile I’m perfectly happy eating apples, oranges and yes, even lemons **whole** , including the peel ;).

Other than that I like most everything that people have posted this far. I actually am a “mayonnaise, no mustard, no ketchup” guy when it come to hamburgers. Hotdogs are mustard and onions only, scrambled eggs and fried potatos get ketchup. I will eat both yellow and dijon-style mustards, but sometimes prefer one over the other depending on the situation. I am complex in my condiment choices :).

ETA: Oh, yeah - I do utterly despise Miracle Whip. The devil’s semen, indeed.

I’m going to second tomatos. It’s the texture, not the taste, so ketchup and sauce don’t bother me, but I can’t stand sliced or diced tomatos.

As far as black jelly beans (and licorice in general), I liked them when I was really young, hated them all through school, and now I like them again. Go figure.

As a child I took spankings rather than eat cole slaw, potato salad or sandwiches with mayo. Eating my own vomit wouldn’t be any harder than eating anything that contains egg mixed with vinegar.

I know a number of people (myself, husband, and kids included) who don’t like eggs, but TRY going out for breakfast and having more than one choice on a menu that doesn’t involve eggs.

I don’t care for soda, and especially despise colas, but I’ve never met anyone else who feels that way. Even the smell of Coke or Pepsi makes me feel ill.

I know a number of people who claim to dislike beer but will drink other alcoholic beverages.

The only major childhood dislike I’ve held onto other than eggs and soda is raw onion. I still pull it off sandwiches (where it’s often snuck on) but I like cooked onions.

My old boss, the head chef, hated garlic. I’ll never, ever understand that.

I used to be a huge “mayo sucks” person, but working in the kitchen I learned to be OK with mayonnaise in any form except as a condiment, so if it’s in dressing or a salad, I like it just fine. Granted, I use a lot less than everyone else tended to since it has a tendency to make anything taste bland, but as a condiment? Eeeewwwwww!

Also, yellow mustard can burn in hell. I like stone ground, cajun, spicy dijon, and about every form that isn’t weird yellow mustard. Entirely too much turmeric.

Aubergine - it tastes like how it sounds … aubergine … it’s the colour of a shoe, the texture of a wad of wet newspaper blended with a kitchen sponge that you found under the sink. Eggplant - it’s a insult to eggs. Crumbling cheese on it doesn’t help.

Ditto. I used to fanatically refuse to eat anything with onions in or on it (unless it was easy to pick off). I’m fine with cooked onions. I like French Onion Soup (largely due to the melted cheese) and I’ve even eaten a few Bloomin’ Onions. I still hate raw onions with a passion. I always order salad, burgers, or sandwhichs without onions.

I cannot abide raisins in anything. What a way to ruin a perfectly good carrot cake, oatmeal cookie, or cinnamon roll, with those turds of Lucifer. Yuck.

A lot of people agree with me. And yet, raisins everywhere.

I hatehatehate_hate **hate** _ lettuce! There’s no way to mess up a sandwich or a burrito faster than adding shredded lettuce to it – but to get one without, I most always have to ask specifically.

Same for sprouts, except for the ubiquity thereof - and thank badness for that last part!

As for lettuce, I don’t get the ubiquitousness of iceberg. It adds green texture and that’s about it. I especially don’t get small amounts of shredded lettuce on a greasy burger – what’s it doing?

On a side note, may I have some pity please? Pity for my aversion to all things seafood and EXTREME aversion to crustaceans. Shrimp and lobster eyes and antenna, bits of crab shell, the whole lot makes me nauseous–literally nauseous and gives me the heebeegeebees. Plates full of silverfish and giant cockroaches. Ugh. The thought of feeesh or more benign shellfish (edible water filters) is quite off-putting, but at least they don’t make me sick.

Now, can you imagine what it’s like dining out? _At least_ half, if not more of the typical menu includes some sort of water-born sampling as an ingredient. I love food, love to cook, but have this gargantuan hole where others find joy. Hence the plea for pity.

> Anyway, I do truly loathe beets. I am convinced people who like them are not native to Earth.

I bet I can change your mind. You dislike pickled beets, the kind generally found in cans. Go buy yourself a fresh beet. Wash and peel. Slice about a 1/4 inch thick. Put a pan on the stove and put enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat to medium high. Lightly salt the beet slices, I also like a bit of onion powder too. Place in pan and fry each side till they start to brown and the insides become tender. Drain on a paper towel. Enjoy. My grandchildren that absolutely hate canned beets will clean up a plate of my fried beets in nothing flat. Fried beets have a nice nutty taste, not the earthy taste of canned. Be carefull when handling the beets, the juice will stain.

I’m one of those people. I don’t like beer because it tastes bitter, and kind of bready. Maybe what I don’t like is the hops. I just can’t get used to the flavor. I like other alcoholic beverages, though. Go figure. I also don’t like papayas.

On the other hand, I looovvveee mayonnaise and prefer it to Miracle Whip, which is a bit too sweet for my tastes. If I’m going to hell, I’m going with a jar of mayo in my hand (it’s called Hellman’s for a reason, you know. ) 😉
