# Commonwealth Dopers: anyone even remotely interested in next month's Games?

I fear it’s too late by now … with two preschoolers in the house, we would need at least two weeks’ notice even to get the house tidy enough for such a plan to go into action!

Marching orders, yes. As in half of this place is to be demolished, with the other half supposedly to be kept and improved. I happen to think that _some_ reason will be found to knock down the whole place, profit for the making of.
Cynical, yes, because this area was being mentioned as a possible location for the ptoantial ahthletes’ village BEFORE (supposedly) there was any decision made to demolish the existiing blocks of flats. “Oh, that’s funny”, I thought at the time" " I wonder where, precisely, they think t hey are going to fit that in".
Ooh, yes I am grumpy! 🙂

I’m with Gorillaman - the rugby sevens will be tremendous.
Apart from the normal squads, the professional 15-a-side clubs are releasing players.

I’m kind of interested, although I’m not a Commonwealth-er or a sports fan–my cousin is doing some sort of PR job there and is sending everyone reports on her activities and how much fun she’s having living in Australia for two months. So I’m actually paying some attention to something I would normally not realize even exists (I barely notice the Superbowl).

Nuh uh. To the extent that I like these types of events at all, I’m more of a winter sport person. And even that interest seems to be failing. This year, for the first time in memory, I did not watch a single minute of the Winter Olympics.

No interest in the Games beyond the selfish consideration of the impact on this city’s already crap public transport system and traffic situation. I wish I’d booked a holiday anywhere else for the duration, in fact.
