For a brief moment I was thinking the boy Shirley defeated and bullied would turn out to be the Dean, and that this incident was why he wound up the way he is. I’m glad that’s not what happened, though. ---

Well, it’s not _just_ that they met - it might not be unusual at all for two people of roughly the same age to have incidentally met as kids in elementary school or a youth center or whatever, if they’re in a town or small city. The contrivance is that the encounter was so formative and significant for each of them that they both remember it clearly years later. ---

FWIW, I thought the ending with Shirley and Jeff being bestest buddies, and showing them as kids, was painfully over the top cheesy. I often like when the show gets warm and fuzzy, but they overdo it sometimes. ---

The Halloween episode isn’t one of my favorites, so I didn’t remember the actual song. The melody is strikingly similar, though. ---

**Cacio e Pepe** , the classic Roman cheese and pepper pasta. Serves 5-6 as a side dish 8 ounces spaghetti 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons cracked fresh black pepper 1-1/2 cups freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese Cook pasta in salted water, probably a minute or two less than what the package says. Heat skillet with olive oil, saute cracked pepper for a couple minutes. Remove pasta from pot with tongs, add to skillet, coat the pasta. Add cheese, toss and coat again. Add a bit of pasta water to the pot, coat again. Bam, you’re done. ---
