Surprisingly middling episode; I was hoping Community would take a “gay episode” more over-the-top, but it wound up being much more about Jeff and Pierce’s father issues and the whole gay thing was window dressing. I did like that the episode called out to Troy’s abrupt transition from capable, popular jock to nerdy manchild. ---

I loved the suspense created by the music and the cinematography in the Troy scenes. It was very thriller-y. ---

I found Pierce’s dad’s over-the-top racism to be hilarious… “Laplanders!” Solidly entertaining episode, lots of laughs even if it didn’t have any crazy conceptual underpinnings. ---

I wonder what nationality Pierce’s dad isn’t prejudiced against? He was even prejudiced against Jeff (Celtic or something like that?) ---

Did you notice when Troy “won” the blindfolded air conditioner competition, the two losers had sacks put over their heads? Their _already blindfolded_ heads? I also enjoyed the security lock for the room-temperature room … first I wondered why the retina-scan was so low, and then the Vice Dean _breathed_ on it. Goodman was great in this episode, especially his glowering, shadowly look as he vowed this wasn’t the end, Troy Barnes … The first two episodes this season had me afeared the Community gang had lost their touch, but with the apartment/timelines episode and this one, I say they’re back on track with a vengeance. And on Hawthorne’s Gay Wipes package … Dean Pelton’s head! Ha! ---

Forgive my ignorance, but can someone please explain to me: 1. Why do gay people have more need for pre-moistened towelettes than non-gay people? 2. Why would female impersonators need to sew pockets into the undersides of their mini-skirts? Thanks in advance. ---

Spoogewiping was my assumption. Wasn’t there even a line to the effect of “Whatever you’re wiping or who you’re wiping it off of,”? And not being knowledgeable in the field of crossdressing, I can only assume the pocket would be for somehow supporting or hiding male genitalia. ---

Might have been my favorite episode this year. To be fair though, this is the first one I was able to watch in real time. Probable in joke: Pierce’s father’s name was Cornelius, which is Chevy Chase’s real first name. I wondered if “You’re dead, and I’m not” was a shout out to “I’m Chevy Chase, and you’re not”. And Pierce at the “First Annual Gay Bash” reminded me a lot of Quasimodo at the Feast of Fools- having a great time til Bishop Frollo arrives, making me wonder if that was also an intentional homage. In any case, loved the lines in the closing: “E-rad-i-cate E-rad-i-cate E-rad-i-cate” and “Whassup girl? How you livin’?” Most consistently “more funny lines than you can remember” show on television. ---

I want me some astronaut paninis. Another great episode, even though a more conventionally structured one. Pierce’s unintentional gay double entendre comments were hilarious, and reminiscent of Tobias Funke in **Arrested Development** , but amped up by there being so many one after another.
