# Compay Segundo, Dead at 95.

Although he was one of Cuba’s top musicians prior to Castro’s revolution, he fell into obscurity and was banned from music, earning his living as a cigar roller until 1998, when he was “re-discovered” by Ry Cooder for his recording of the “Buena Vista Social Club” album.
