Are you implying that I made that assertion? Because I wholeheartedly believe in the faster >> left, slower >> right model, I was simply saying that it doesn’t eliminate the problems being discussed.
In Alberta (and I assume other places), the traffic cameras for speeding and red light violations send the ticket to the owner of the license photographed. No points are assigned to these violations because they can’t actually tell who was driving. In other words, if your teenager is driving your car and racking up photo violations, you will get them all as the registered owner of the car.

As Rayne Man says, “speedo” is a common shortening of “speedometer” in many countries.
Also, while the Speedo brand of swimwear is certainly sold in America, the company started in Sydney, Australia, and is now headquartered in the United Kingdom, so it’s not really an American cultural item.
