The Tom Hanks - Meg Ryan romantic comedy “You’ve Got Mail” was originally going to be about a different computer message, “A fatal exception 0E occurred at 0028:C0011E36 in VXD VMM(01) + 00010E36. The current application must be terminated”. Due to copyright issues with Microsoft that couldn’t be resolved, the project had to be changed.

Willis O’Brien, the animator who created the original _King Kong_, made an unauthorized sequence in which a turgid Kong explicity commits frottage with Anne (an animated doll intercut with closeup footage of Fay Raye). No copies survive but several people swear O’Brien played a private reel of it for them at his home.

Gone with the Wind may have been the first movie to use the word damn (at least during the Haze Code era), but the word was dubbed in. The script writers wanted to use an even bigger swear word, the almighty F word to be precise, but knew that if they did, their film wouldn’t be allowed to see the light of day, so they decided to sneak it in. You’ll hear Clark Gabel say “damn”, but just read his lips and you’ll see him saying something else.

In order to get Moore to move his lips in **Bowling for Columbine** a carrot was stuck up his rear. While this practice was outlawed for animals in 1957, it’s still being employed on human actors to this day. (see also Grant, Hugh for further details about implimentation).
In the orginal screen version of the movie **Annie** the ophanage staff used pillows to suffocate all the children the night after they sang about having a hard knock life. It didn’t go over well with focus groups, so half the movie was re-written.

**Doris Day and Rock Hudson** were probably the hottest, wildest “sex machines” both on and off-screen. Oh sure you are thinking - but Rock Hudson was gay. (Oh yeah - and the Titanic was unsinkable too).
Let’s face it, Doris Day had sexual urges that would make Catherine the Great’s pale by comparison. But how could Doris Day reconcile her squeaky clean image (and her marriage) with her rampant offscreen endeavors with Rock Hudson? Simple. They came up with the gay scam !!! And boy did the public fall for that one.
Regrettably, Hudson got so involved with the gay hoax, he was even willing to contract AIDS for added realism. Unfortunately this led to his demise but he did admit on his deathbed “If you knew Doris as I did, it was well worth it.” And it took the undertaker two hours just to get the smile off his face !!

The surviving children, at any rate, seeing as the pillowcases during the pillow fight scene were filled with gravel.

In the film Mask, that is Eric Stoltz’s real deformed face. He wears a mask in all the other films he’s done before and after that 1985 hit.
While\* Being Al Pacino\* was a good idea the actor turned it down for being “too Weird”. _Being John Malkovich_ was the final decision after _Being Hugo Weaving_ was nixed.
The ABC hit sitcom Happy Days was banned for almost its entire first season on a local affiliate somewhere in Iowa. There was a typo on the memo about the new show premiering: it read _Happy Gays_. The station manager felt this was just not apropriate for the family hour.
My Dinner with Andrea is rated number the one action flick in Poland.

Box office figures are decided by a man named Murray. No one has ever seen Murray, and that he exists is only known through notes that he’s left scattered around studios.
The recent brohaha over DVD copies of recent releases being sent to Academy members was meant to distract you from the fact that they’ve already decided on the nominees.

In the original ending of _Casablanca_, the phrase, “This could be the start of a beautiful friendship” was followed by a long, passionate kiss. When this was edited out their destination was changed to a “Free-French garrison at Brazzaville” instead of the original “loft in the Villiage.”
To appease the audience, when _The Longest Day_ premiered in Berlin the film was shown backwards so it appeared the Germans won.
When filming began for _2001_, the monolith was originally played by Ronald Reagan. When his acting proved too wooden, he was replaced by a genuine space hero of the time, an inanimate carbon rod.

_Gremlins_ was a true story. Ever hear of the town Kingston Falls? Exactly. It’s also a little known fact that actor Corey Feldman, who played young Pete, developed his substance abuse problems after being snuck into the bar scene by Stripe.
After Gizmo completed _Gremlins 2_, he was killed by Stripe (who did not appear in the second movie) over a jealous argument about their pay from the first movie.
