Completing this evening's thread trifecta...incredible photographs from last night.

Yep, I’ve seen this as well. It’s pretty cool when it does happen! Nice photo as well.

I once hit 9 bulls in a row - no shit…in the red every time. I couldn’t do it again if I tried, and I was to err…something… to think about taking a picture. hey it was in college./

Actually he was playing at the other dartboard across the room. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve a similar picture somewhere with arrows instead of darts. In the case of archery, it’s called a “Robin Hood” (since Robin Hood usually splits in two the perfectly centered sheriff’s arrow during the last volley of a contest in movies), and it’s pretty rare.

What a bunch of comedians. I know the throw sucked (FTR, we were playing Cricket, so I scored a big ol’ goose egg on that round,) but that photo made it all worthwhile.

Basically, 'cept I was standing a little over 7 feet away.

Nah. They’re mega-cheapo darts anyhow, so it wouldn’t have been a huge loss.

And yes, the first thing I shouted when it happened was “Woohoo! Robin Hood!”

Thanks for the title correction, Skip.

Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade or anything, but I have seen this happen well over a hundred times. I have been playing in dart leagues for the last thirty years though. I have personally shot this and while it may be exciting the first few times, it gets pretty old when you start bending your shafts and routinely shredding your flights. I had a teammate who this happened to fairly regularly on his first two throws and he would invariably throw his third shot at it trying for a triple decker instead of actually trying to score points. Now that would be impressive.

Boo!

I got first chance to score with a witty response, and I went and threw a foul throw. Can’t count, can’t read photographs, can’t take my opportunities. My own personal trifecta. “Roger, YOU’RE FIRED!”

Not only have I [sub]accidentally[/sub] done this with darts, I have also [sub]accidentally[/sub] done this with a bow and arrow from 20 yards.

Ja, I’ve done this too. It’s pretty neat, in its own way, but nothing amazing. Amazing is me closing out the 20s before SpouseO drills me on them.

Interesting that in dart games, it wouldn’t be counted.

In archery 3D competitions (you shoot from unknown distances, you have to guess/estimate, at 3 dimensional foam replicas of animals), it would be counted the same as the arrow into which it has been stuck.

Obviously, this gets expensive (arrows are $40-200/dozen, and possibly higher) if you get good at it. Many archery shops will hang up an example of your shooting behind the counter if you care to “donate” your trophy, though I think this is mostly for those “robin hoods” that occur in their own ranges.

Cool photo. Two words: Hal. Sheep.
