I saw that in Weird Earls a while back, sent it to Bill, since as a geeky enginerd I though he’d enjoy it. One of the most ingenious things I’ve seen in a long time.
Though your title is a bit deceptive…it’s a computer controlled cat DOOR. A computer controlled cat would be a very cool thing too, perhaps even cooler than the cat door; it would make a lot of cat owners’ lives a lot easier, that’s for sure.

Oh yeah, like that would make life easier…
_Hon, can you boot the cat again? It just GPF’ed again… all over the rug._
And it would give the linux users one more thing to feel superior about -
_Well, I just recompiled my kitty-kernel and it’s totally GPL compliant!_
Last but not least, this means my parents couldn’t own a cat.

Yep, I’d like a computer-controlled cat too. It might still byte , but at least she couldn’t scratch.
