Allofasudden, out of the blue, I can’t play any card games like Free Cell and Solitaire. I keep getting this message:
_SOL_
_An error has occured in your program. To keep working anyway, click ignore and save your work to a new file. To this program, click close. You will lose information you entered since your last save._

WTF? What’s going on? Why can’t I get into these simple programs? I was just playing it this morning!

And WTF is “SOL”? Does it mean what I think it means?

Solitaire is **sol.exe**.

Dunno about the rest, though.

Just a WAG, but I believe both games share a library called cards.dll. If it’s damaged, that could screw up both games. Find it on your C: drive, then snag a clean copy from your Windows CD. In XP, it’s under c:\winnt\system32.
