# Computer question: Internet Explorer

Hope this isn’t an inappropriate message, I seem to recall some complaining about computer-related questions but can’t recall what the concensus was. I’m using Internet Explorer with Windows '98. When I first started got my new computer, the huge cache space was great; I could fly back to previous pages instantly, really speeding up my browsing. Then, this stopped for no apparent reason, and pages have to releod each time. Also, I am now forced to save jpegs as bmps; I don’t know why this would be related, but it happened at the same time. These both went away once, but seem to be here to stay. I was going to just live with it, but I was using my family’s computer the other day and really noticed the difference. I’ve messed with every option that I could think of, and reinstalled IE with the current version. Any guesses?

Try going into TOOL\>INTERNET OPTIONS\>ADVANCED\>and click restore defaults at the bottom. Then click the GENERAL tab, Temporary Internet Files and hit delete files and click on all offline content before hitting ok. Nexet go to settings, set it to change your pages everytime you visit and adjust your cache size. then hit ok

Heath’s solution will provide temporary relief, but IE has a way of clogging up its cache over time. [This program](http://www.mindspring.com/~dpoch/enigmatic/cachesentry.html) will prevent that.

Thanks. Works great now. Strange that my family’s computer would still be running the same, though, as it’s poorly maintained in just about every other way.

You have to run the scandisk & defrag Space! Its free on the computer.
