Not planning on letting the little bugger bite you, are you? It’d be a bit disconcerting to see you sign back on as “Spider-Man”.
TVeblen & Dire Wolf: Both of my dogs also do that thing where they wedge their cement-like heads under my arm as I’m typing and launch them upward with nuclear force. Pretty funny, as long as I’m doing something inconsequential like e-mail or work. But mess around with my Diablo II game and all bets are off! Of course, this only happens at much earlier hours than now; my Golden Retriever cross is asleep at my feet and about to go into REM sleep and emit those hysterical little “woof” noises. Those never fail to make me crack up, but quietly; I wouldn’t want to wake him up (he’d stop!). My Australian Shepherd-Blue Heeler cross is not visible now (she gets bored when nothing’s happening).
I have the most unplayful cat in history, so she has no interest in computer lights or noises.

I read somewhere that the more playful a cat is the more intelligent they are, I dont know what that says about my poor moggy, but she is the neighbourhood olympic champion bird catcher[/hijack]
My dog on the other hand, hears the noise of the computer booting down and immediately goes to the door knowing its time for a pee for her and bed for me.
Pavlov conditioning at its best!
I have to close off the computer, because the dog can be a massive pest. I get the head under the arm. If that doesn’t work, she may put the paws in the lap. In about 25% of cases, she will NOT be ignored, and she puts the paws on my shoulders. There are serious drawbacks to large (almost 28", 130 lb) dogs.
My cat, Marlin, used to be fascinated with my printer; now he prefers sitting in my lap while i’m typing, leaning his considerable weight against my left shoulder, which keeps me from using both hands to continue typing.
Often while I’m at my computer, a little gray ferret nose will come poking over the keyboard tray. This is Raisin, my baby ferret, who has recently learned how to climb into and throughout my desk. Both she and her “big sister,” Twitch, enjoy getting into my subwoofer, where they hoard toys and sometimes nap. I had to stop that via a wad of socks.
Nah. I’d be “Spider-Wolf”. And Charlotte/Peter’s still up there.
Thanks for all the stories about your furred families, folks. Makes me remember my own dear departed with fondness. sigh I miss my clan …
My cats names were Rundi, Nova, Tabs and Vestus. The last one, the mother Rundi, was put to sleep during kidney failure about two years ago now. Nova wandered out into the middle of a winter’s storm and died through hypothermia (he may have had kidney failure also). Tabs died in agony before we could get him to a vet from a tumour in his liver. And Vestus – I saw him getting hit by a car. Can still hear that thunk, and still go to pieces when I see other animals stray onto roads in front of oncoming traffic. So, right now, no more pets. Until I heal up a little more, maybe.
When I had my first computer, an Amiga (!!), I remember either Tabs or Nova, two grey tabbies with jet-black markings on the back of their paws, would sit on the carpet in my workroom and wait for me to finish whatever I was doing. I’d give them a stroke on the head now and then. Sometimes they just fell asleep.
Damn, I miss them …
