The seasonal requirements for cheap agricultural labor in the U.S. have been partially met by (legal and illegal) Mexican labor since the late 1800s, and the Mexican component of that labor grew tremendously under the [Bracero Program](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracero_Program). I guess you’ve been out of work since at least 1942. ---
