Television, on their 1992 reunion tour. They played only three classic _Marquee Moon_ tracks, the rest all came from the recent album. Never seen a show like it: silence from the crowd as they let the guitar interplay wash over them, then ecstatic response between each track. As I was born in '73, I missed a lot of my faves first time around, including the entire first wave of punk. I did get to see The Ramones three times in the 90s. Never saw The Clash but I did get to see B.A.D. at the Viper Room, which is likely one of my top 5 shows ever. Saw Stiff Little Fingers at the Grog Shop in Cleveland in 2007, and the Buzzcocks are coming to town in about a month, so that’ll be one more checked off the Class of '76 bucket list. ---

I envy you for that, and though I was old enough then to could have seen one of these shows (though I don’t know if they played in Germany), that was before I discovered Television. Minor sidestory: after the gig I got both Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine to autograph a cigarette pack. I asked Tom why their cover of “Fire Engine” was called “The Blow-up” on the sleeve of their ROIR live album, and he said 'Because some asshole didn’t want to pay the publishing rights!" and then I swear to god his eyeballs vibrated. ---

seen Porter Waggoner at the Kokomo High School gym in 86 seen Mickey Gilley at the IU campus in the same town first time I’d seen panties tossed on a stage … he signed them and gave em back …seen Confederate Railroad in a tent at a Laughlin NV casino still mad I didn’t get to see boxcar willie tho … got the flu 2 days before the concert ---

Nor did I see anyone ironically that I regret (like I said above, I really enjoyed Mel C.). Though I do regret seeing Echo and the Bunnymen a few months back. I still like the band, but Ian McCulloch was drunk off his ass and out of tune all night, and the show sucked.
