Concerts nobody else here has seen

Probably late ‘70s I saw Cliff Richard in the round, revolving stage, at Painter’s Mill Music Fair in Owings Mills, Maryland. Intimate place of 2400 seats. He had a couple hits on the charts at the time, but I wasn’t familiar with most of his material. Didn’t matter, he sounded great, the band was tight, super concert.

:notes: She was a devil woman with evil on her mind. :notes:

Nope, just performers in any venue. I saw Carlos Montoya in a high school gym. He was laid over on a flight and gave a free performance for the kids.

Oh yeah, I saw The New Christy Minstrels in Anchorage, also. And about 15 years ago or so saw Judy Collins there for a Christmas concert. And I saw Glen Yarbrough at the U. of Alaska in Fairbanks in about 1967.

Everybody’s seen the Dead. But who else saw them in a high school auditorium in Anchorage?

Well then I have to go with lesser names I guess.

We ended up hijacked into the Pete Fountain ‘Half Fast Walking Club’ during Mardi Gras. Don’t worry, I kept my mouth shut to ruin the music.
Cissy Houston, better known probably as Whitney’s mom but a well known Gospel & Soul singer.
Tal Farlow, famed Jazz guitarist.
Sonny Rhodes, several times. Bluesman
Junior Wells Blues

I’m guessing many have seen Arlo Guthrie, but just in case, I’ll list him. I was Stage Crew for him at a Pumpkin Festival as a bonus.

Did anyone else bother to go see Huey Lewis? He was surprisingly good. Back at the San Diego Sports Arena.

The Chieftains (twice)
Indigo Girls
Sarah McLachlan
Christine Lavin & Julie Gold as members of Four Bitchin’ Babes
. I also saw Christine Lavin at a Clearwater Revival.

Sorry, I’ve seen Judy Collins in Concert.

Selena
Los Tigres del Norte
Ozomatli
Hieroglyphics

Mike Oldfield, with opening act
David Sancious on solo keyboards (he brought down the house)

Indigo Girls (they were awful)
Electric Light Orchestra (the We have a spaceship and play to recorded music tour)

Summer 1969 - on one bill I saw:

The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Vanilla Fudge
The Amboy Dukes
The Soft Machine

Same summer - a free concert in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park:

The Grateful Dead
Chicago Transit Authority
Spirit
Delaney and Bonnie and Friends
The Allman Brothers Band

Four times over a long stretch of time. The first was at the peak of his health and the last he required help to get to a chair; he played a short set seated. I loved each show. The man was amazing and so was Lucille.

I’ve seen Ray Charles.

Anyone here seen Warrior Soul? Vixen? Corey Hart? Pretty Boy Floyd? Candlebox? Old Crow Medicine Show?

I was there, up in a tree with no real view of the stage. We just listened and cheered. Afterwards, we went over and stood at The Dakota for a while remembering John Lennon.

I also saw Spinal Tap perform live at a NAMM show in late 80s.

I saw Blood, Sweat and Tears w/ the Fifth Dimension at the Hollywood Bowl in either 1969 or 1970.

Anyone beside me and my gf see the barefoot diva, the Queen of Morna, the Cape Verdean Creole Cize, Cesária Évora?

We were honored to see her perform twice and to meet her in person once. She often performed barefoot both for personal comfort as well as to recognize those who couldn’t afford shoes. She also would smoke tobacco and drink liquor while performing.

I’ve been to a Los Tigres del Norte concert.

For the most part, I’ve only been to concerts by big name performers. The only other name I can think to add to the list that no one else on this board has probably seen in concert is Ramon Ayala Y sus Bravos del Norte.

Will never happen again!! Logins is 76, The Stanley is long gone, and the Pirates, well……

I saw Bob Dylan, David Bromberg, and Bonnie Raitt on her 30th birthday at the Stanley (not the same night).

Camper Van Beethoven in Boston. My roomie had seen them in London in a very small venue and ended up chatting with them after the show and mentioned that I was a big fan. They remembered and left me a free ticket at will-call!

Nope, I’ve seen Geldof in concert too. One of my all time favourites.

Are you kidding me? I’ve seen them live 3 or 4 times. Do you not like their music or was it a bad performance?

Both, however my wife is a huge fan and even she was saying how poor the concert was.

It happens. The Indigo Girls were excellent when I saw them, but I might have seen the Dead in one of their worst concerts in a terrible venue.

Upper seating in MSG on day 19 of a 22 day set of concerts there. It was so bad, we left about 70 minutes in. MSG is very poor acoustically if you’re not on the floor. So up in the nosebleeds was a terrible idea.

I guess in that vein I saw a very disappointing Van Morrison concert in the early 90s. He was definitely off his game, as opposed to today where he is just off his rocker.

I saw her once, in New Hampshire, at least ten years ago. Have you ever heard of Uncle Bonsai? They’re a Seattle trio; much the same vein of sarcastic folk as Lavin. I’ve seen them, along with side projects Electric Bonsai Band and Mel Cooleys.

I did not see Simon & Garfunkel at Central Park, but they did a tour afterwards with the same backing band and I saw them in Vancouver.

There’s a singer I like named John Wesley Harding. Not long after I moved to Boston, I went to see him in Wellesley. When I found the venue, it turned out to be a sorority house concert on the campus at Wellesley College. The opener was Ellis Paul, who just stood in the center of the room with his guitar and played.

There was a band I saw decades ago at the Crocodile in Seattle called Giant Ant Farm. Years later, someone posted their music on youtube. You know how some youtube videos go viral and the number of views is in the millions? When I found Giant Ant Farm, the view count was 7. It’s up to 1.4K now.
