I always thought Comic Book Store Guy from The Simpsons would be perfect. Maybe they’ll do some computer animation stuff and get him in. ---

These casting decisions are way too demanding for one of my delicate constitution. How do you expect me to work under such adverse and stressful conditions? I demand you compensate me for the punitive damages I will surely suffer for this arduous task. ---

All this excitement has rendered my pyloric valve permanently sealed. I’ll now be retiring to my bedroom with a rubber glove and some Noxema. Sweet Zombie Christ, after seeing what Soderbergh was able to do with _Ocean’s Eleven,_ I have every right to expect that this movie will be marvelous. Excellent, excellent news for a perennial reader of the book, i.e. me. Best. Antihero. Ever. ---

This project is finally going to eat some film? I don’t believe it. BTW, Stinkum, Belushi agreed to play the part when the first scripts were written. BTW, Tim R. Mortiss, John Candy agreed to play the part in the late 80’s. ---

Seeing as I am temporarily bereft of Big Chief tablets due to my alcohol-soaked mother’s venturing into my sanctum sanctorum to “clean” my chamber, I shall risk the continued health of my pyloric valve and weigh in on the subject. I agree that Philip Seymour Hoffman is the perfect Ignatius. If he turns it down I guess Stephen Root wouldn’t be a bad second choice. I love Root’s work and he definitely has the subtlety to pull off Mr. Reilly’s fits and tantrums. Put me down as another one who loves the book. I can’t wait for the film! ---

Oh, I can’t wait for this one! Mr. Singular and I have talked about casting this in our fantasy movie since the 80’s, but once again the Dopers have nailed it in a flash. I can’t decide between Hoofman and Root-they’re both perfect for the role. Hoffman might have the self-righteous attitude edge, tho. We lived in and near New Orleans for 9 years, and this book absolutely captures this beautiful bizarre culture. By the way, Toole did write one other book, **The Neon Bible**. It’s a good, albeit slim, read, and it actually did make it to the screen in 1996. I haven’t seen it myself, but I’m heading to Blockbuster to try and find it-anything with Denis Leary is worth a look in my book!
