We should name these after one of the greatest heroes of the Confederacy, James Longstreet. If the people who were previously in favor of CSA names are all of a sudden not in favor, I’d like to see them explain why. It will be funny. ---

Lost Causers hate him, ostensibly for some contrived reason about how he lost the war, but ultimately because he spent postwar vocally advocating for black civil rights. He wasn’t the only one but he was the scapegoat for those types. ---

Longstreet got a lot of criticism after the war, partly because he changed sides and became a Scallawag, partly as a means of deflecting any criticism of Lee’s generalship, which was seen as akin to blasphemy. ---
