YouTube video asserts that four ICE agents may have forced entry into the Ecuadorian Consulate in Minneapolis. But I have found nothing in mainstream media. Can the SDMB confirm? ---

According to Google AI, Ecuador has lodged a formal diplomatic protest after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent attempted to enter the Ecuadorian Consulate in Minneapolis without permission on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Correct, I recall hearing about this when happened. And I wondered, why does Ecuador have an office there? And could they have shot the ICE officers if they forced their way into the consulate and not been charged with anything. ---

Having had to deliver stuff to some consulates, they are not like Embassies. Probably not. They are not an ambassador. Career consular officers cannot be arrested or detained except in the case of a felony and with a warrant. They have limited immunity. ---
