First and foremost- without any data- I will say he was a dangerous nutjob. That trumps everything else he was, is, or might be speculated to be and as much as I loathe Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck and everybody else associated with the Tea Party I will bet my 401K he would still have been batshit crazy even if he’d never heard of them.

And the fact that Representative Giffords is a Democrat is hardly conclusive. If I may say so, rushing to judgment based only on that data point is akin to what anti-vaccination activists do.
He also talks about dreaming and mind control through grammar or something. He sounds like a schizophrenic who needed medication. Which is not intended to be a slur on schizophrenics or anyone else. He sounds like he was going through some kind of mania and needed help. The videos are not really political, but they are definitely nuts.

Fair enough. Your post just rubbed me the wrong way. From what I’m now reading, it does sound like he’s a nutjob. (Well, by definition he’d have to be.) But I’ll still have to be convinced that he was not motivated by the right.
Judging by Youtube videos, you’d be really really accurate with that statement. Still though, implicitly advocating the use of violence for political gain is right up there with the most disgusting acts a politician or political pundit can do. Its almost inevitable that something like this will happen (even if it isn’t the case here). Never underestimate human being’s capability for violence, especially when goaded on by the charismatic and popular.
None of these could be construed as examples of liberal political violence.

No, what they have in common is that they all did what they did long ago. Right now political violence is overwhelmingly a right wing phenomena in America. And as far as I know you didn’t have Democratic officials calling for violence back then.
