Conservatives/Republicans do that so they can nutpick and tar the entire Democratic Party. Liberals/Democrats calling them Republicans instead of MAGAs tars the entire Republican Party. It had been cropped or edited to conceal the fact that, in the original photo, his index finger was also extended, and that’s what was in the other picture that the Democrat was showing. ---

MTG was chairing a committee hearing about keeping men out of women’s sports. She was asking the head of US Fencing some question and showed a photo of him apparently giving the middle finger. Stansbury noted the photo was cropped and in the real photo he was flashing a peace sign. ETA: Ninjaed. ---

Okay, granted that the image was altered. But what gesture was he really making? It looks like he was making what would be an [offensive gesture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sign#As_an_insult) in the UK (and other places). Not a peace sign. That has palm outward, while he had his palm inward. Plausibly, he was showing the number 2. But what would that signify? ---
