If a Democrat complained about making $174K for a half-year’s work, the MAGAtosphere would blow up with outrage about how out of touch she is with the common voter. And they’d actually be right. So where’s the rightwing outrage over MTG’s remarks?

Something I’ve always wondered about MTG: remember that day, shortly before Jan 6, when she skipped down the Whitehouse stairs to speak to the press. She said something about a productive planning session. I would just love to know what contribution this moran could have possibly made. I wish the meeting had been recorded.

The Republicans have made such a fuss about “we can bring guns to the Capitol” plus “no magnetometers” that it seems all too likely that someone is planning to at least display their gun in the chamber during the SOTU, as a means of grabbing headlines and goosing up donations.
And as you note, if (say) Empty were to pull her gun out, it could always be taken from her.
Greene, Boebert, Gosar…there are quite a few not-particularly-mentally-healthy Republicans. And they’re allowed to bring guests, who may be even more unhinged.
A lot depends on how deep the white-supremacy goes in the Secret Service. Some of those agents may not be moved by the idea that if someone is shot on their watch, the reputation of the Service will be harmed. Some of them may not care about that at all.
I think this should be expected. Until Republicans change. So, it should be expected.
McCarthy has been “cracking down” on any heckling tonight.

At least it’s unlikely they’ll be sitting together again. It will probably be Gaetz and Booboo, Perjury and Santos. A double date from hell.
