Take a look at what’s happening to Steve Bannon right now. If he doesn’t show, that’s contempt of Congress. If he does show and just declares it’s a clown show, that’s perfectly fine.

If he hadn’t shown up voluntarily, they would have subpoenaed him, so this just cuts to the chase, and it undercuts the “we had to drag him in here because he knows he’s guilty!” narrative. The GOP needs this clown show to distract the audience from Trump getting eaten by the lions in the next ring over.
I think Fauci is an old school professional civil servant. It would never occur to him to skip a summons. But then, he’s never been before amateur a-holes like todays Republic Party. Please let the Dems take over after the elections and purge the committees of unserious dipshits.

They can just remove her from the committee. I’m sure there are rules, and if the Dems are in charge, they can enforce those rules. No more handling her and her ilk with kid gloves. “Give us a reason, and we’ll shut you out, and ignore your whining about it. The People Have Spoken, and they’re sick of your disruptive bullshit, and we will act to protect the legislative process from your bullshit!”
If, as I hope, the American electorate gets its head out of its collective ass and gives Congress and the Presidency back to the Dems this year, the Dems need to start acting like a serious government, and use the power they’ve been given.
It’s crazy to think that just five years ago House Republicans stripped Rep. Steve King of committee assignments and unanimously voted to rebuke him because he questioned why “white supremacy” was offensive.

Showing dick pics in hearings is pretty egregiousy. AFAIKT, she’s been nothing but a disruptive troll in every committee she’s been on.
Unfortunately, MTG has showed that the formula works. By being a disruptive troll, she’s garnered herself twenty times as much clout as the average no-name Republican House representative. All morals aside, she’s absolutely maxed her ‘potential.’ She gets treated almost as some sort of Republican ‘vice president of the House.’
But she has no clout. She was supporting Kevin McCarthy when he got defenestrated. She fell on her face in her attempt to jettison Johnson. Sure, she has infinitely more name recognition that your average second term Representative, but she’s shown no ability to translate that into impacting the processes or agenda of the House in any way.
I strongly doubt that she’s really trying to, anyway. She does what she does to build her own personal brand of MAGA-flavored outrage and nuttery; being in Congress just gives her a particularly big bully pulpit for doing that.
It’s also been pointed out upthread that she’s a massive money generator.
It may have come to some Dopers’ attention that MTG has been conspicuously absent for the last couple of weeks. I mean, the DNC happened last week, Kamala was practically coronated – and not a word from our Devil Who Came Up From Georgia??

Ten years ago, I would have dismissed this as being too idiotic to be true. Unfortunately, we collectively fallen down too many rabbit holds make that judgment nowadays.
When I google MTG’s name, and look under “News,” I find several news stories from the past few days, detailing recent posts she’s made on X during the DNC about Harris, Democrats, and Planned Parenthood. So, she’s not entirely off the grid.
Still a MAGAt, I guess. I thought that MAGAt had gone into hiding for a while, but, apparently not.
Perhaps there’s a new MAGAt costume to wear to be unveiled soon.
