# Connecting EQ to phono input of tuner/amp

I have an old school Sansui tuner/amp. It only has one aux jack, to which I have my computer sound card connected to.
The only other available inputs are phono and phono subsonic. Can I connect my equalizer to one of these and get decent audio quality, and if not, is there a way to split the input to the only aux jack?
I would like the EQ for the FM part, as I use software EQ (like winamp) for music from the computer.

If I understand your setup, the short answer is no.
But before we go any further, lets be clear. The EQ you’re talking about is an external graphic EQ, something like [this](http://www.laaudio.co.uk/Resources/Images/EQ231G%20(RGB)%20hi-res.jpg) (but probably with fewer channels)?
If so, your receiver needs to have tape monitor inputs and outputs. You insert the EQ into that loop. Since you say yours doesn’t, you’re SOL. You’ll have to use the receiver’s tone controls.
If not, we’ll need a fuller explanation of your gear and the available connections.
Why do you want to EQ the FM section?

**commasense** you are exactly right. On FM, I don’t like the range of the tone controls, way too much bass, and I like playing with EQ settings. Thanks for the response, you nailed it.
Guess I’ll buy a new receiver. I just love the old Sansui, rotary tuner and all that, late 70’s vintage.

I have a Sansui AU-G99X amp and it has two AUX R & L what model do you have? I have never seen an amp only have one AUX? That’s weird!!
