# Conservatives are now supporting same sex marriage?

The faction of conservative politicians who primarily cares about cutting back taxes and regulation is waking up to the fact that the old social wedge issues are now turning into weapons against _them_ rather than against the Democrats. The smarter ones are trying to figure out how to stick the tiger dismount.

I’m young enough a conservative to have never been anti-gay marriage, but I’m super pleased that my mom has changed her mind about the issue. She’s always really liked one of my oldest friends…and I told her that he was gay a few years ago. She couldn’t think of a good reason why he shouldn’t get married to someone he loves and eventually decided he _should_ have the right to. Dad’s a lost cause, though.
