That’s all part of it. If it looks too good, it would be so obviously faked. The errors are an attempt to echo the confusion of real life, which is more proof of the conspiracy.

Maaaannnn…

Probably about 8% of the population, if even that many. That’s roughly the percentage that believes that 9/11 was an inside job; it’s also roughly the percentage that believes Elvis is still alive.

As far as I can tell the number is [higher than that](http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/bush_administration/22_believe_bush_knew_about_9_11_attacks_in_advance) for the latter.

You know, I got the feeling Mr. Rosen was really emotionally impacted by the experience and was left in kind of a ‘fragile’ state in the aftermath. I really hate to see him have to endure additional trauma, especially when it’s from the most disingenuous and unsympathetic of sources.

As to a father not appearing “sad enough”, it was the strength of some of those parents in their darkest hour that I found most inspirational. That stood to draw a tear just as forcefully as anything else witnessed in this tragedy.

Fortunately, these people fail to realize that they themselves are perhaps the most compelling argument for gun control.

“Hi there! I’m almost completely unable to distinguish the reality of anything going on around me. One thing I do know, though: I really, really need the ability to amass ludicrously extravagant personal firepower, in the event of tyranny/home invasion/societal collapse/carjacking/holy war/etc. Did I mention that I can’t tell whether any of these things are actually occurring or not? Literally anything I see or hear about could be the result of a massive conspiracy. I can’t tell if people are really being killed or not. I can’t tell if people are robots.”

Keep talking, gun conspiracists. Keep telling the rest of us what’s really in your heads, you are doing a fine job.

And not only are there people who think it was all a hoax in order to bolster gun-control, there are yet others who believe that Sandy Hook, and other mass shootings, are the result of government-sponsored mind-control operations that brainwash the shooters into doing what they did.

First let me say…I ABSOLUTELY THINK THESE CRACKPOTS ARE COO COO BANANAS! THERE IS NO SANDY HOOK CONSPIRACY, THEY ARE NUTS!

With that said…I can see why they take some people in…the witnesses who have talked to the media have been sooo overthetop and dramatic. And I know how stupid I sound right now. Obviously when dozens of children die, people are going to be damn well dramatic about that.

But, I can’t help it. My husband pulled a video up of a teacher giving an interview and she was hamming it up. He didn’t want to say it. I had to say it for him. He said, “Doesn’t she seem a little…” and I had to say it for him. Yes. Hammy.

And Gene Rosen too. He was too emotional to do those interviews. He should have just bowed out. I mean…he has every right to do them, of course. But I think it is fueling some of the crazies.

And the Medical examiner. I quite liked him. He seemed like a very nice guy trying to adjust to speaking about the most horrific thing ever, even though his job has him in a position where tragedies don’t affect him in quite the same way they still affect the rest of us…never the less; he gave the kind of interview that a nut case can seize on. So yeah. I swear to god I’m not excusing the nut jobs, but I think enough time has passed that I can tentatively admit that some of these people giving interviews were a little. Different.

Oh, and I want to say that I know everyone deals with grief and tragedies differently, and I hate, hate, hate when folks try to say someone isn’t ‘behaving’ as if they are innocent. You know, like they did with the Ramseys when Jon Benet died. They accused them of not acting like typical grieving parents. I thought that was bullshit. But this situation here. I just don’t know. The interviews were just weird.

Holy crackers, this doofus got his PhD just down the road from where I live. I am glad he moved to Florida to spread his crazy shit around, but damn … I feel like I need to take a shower just because he and I breathed the same air a decade ago.

I avoided watching the interviews so I don’t have firsthand knowledge, but I know what **Nzinga** is talking about. To some extent I think it’s the eye of the media that provokes that kind of theatrics-- hard to say. There’s almost nobody alive (at least in the United States) who isn’t totally “camera-aware” by now, particularly younger people. People assume there’s an expectation of displaying public grief, and some people are just naturally hammier than others. I’ve seen past news clips of people reacting to the murder of a loved one, for example, who seemed to be wailing and chewing the scenery to an almost comic extent. And then there’s the “throw oneself on the casket” phenomenon. It doesn’t necessarily make me think the grief isn’t genuine… it’s just people acting out what they think is expected of them, sometimes more melodramatically than others.

And frankly, if Obama and his government goons and all these actors were slick enough to put this over on all of us, why go to the trouble? He could just as easily used his magical Negro Muslim powers to steal everybody’s guns during the night, right? Cut out the middleman of faking dead kids and get right to the point.

And back to the FAU professor: he’s using the fact that the media didn’t publish pictures of piles of dead school kids as “evidence” that the killings didn’t really happen. Umm, you can’t think of another good reason as to why media outlets might choose to not publish photos of bullet-riddled kindergartners?

A long standing human problem I understand. I’ve read how the existence of a traditional period of grief and other formal grief rituals seen in many cultures often appear to have originated as attempts to short circuit that “I’m-more-grieving-than-thou” syndrome. That way someone can just wear black for a year or whatever to publicly express grief without feeling they’ve publicly shortchanged the dead by not wailing and slitting their wrists over the coffin.

Years ago on _Politically Incorrect_ Bill Maher brought up public mourning when, I think, the media criticized Prince Charles for not mourning sufficiently when Princess Diana was killed. He wondered what was wrong with showing a little dignity and decorum when in public. I’m with you though. I don’t like to criticize people for not behaving “normally.” On the other hand some of it does seem like a lot of recreational grieving. Seriously, someone had to send special comfort dogs to Sandy Hook?

Turns out there a Wikipedia article on the subject of grief pornography. Wikipedia has everything.

> Mourning sickness is a collective emotional condition of "recreational grieving" by individuals in the wake of celebrity deaths and other public traumas. Such traumas may be linked to hyper-attentive, intrusive, and voyeuristic media coverage, which has been dubbed grief porn.
> The history of mourning sickness in Great Britain can be traced to the public reaction to the Dunblane massacre in March 1996 when a lone assailant killed 16 schoolchildren and their teacher at the Dunblane Primary School ...

It’s pretty low level crazy. It’s easy to see the whole narrative from beginning to end. It has a sort of logic. Now our own resident conspiracy theorist thinks lizard people sent hurricane Sandy towards NYC in order to get Bloomberg to endorse Obama. That’s high-level crazy that is.

Yes there are. I’m related to one. Although this: [My father was 'committed' and taken away to a psychiatric hospital last night. What does this mean? - In My Humble Opinion - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=678570)

might be relevant in understanding the reasoning. He doesn’t believe it was a hoax as in it didn’'t happen. He believes the shooter was a government agent as was the Aurora shooting. A False flag so Obama can take away people’s guns.

Oh, I don’t know. It’s got to take at least a 10th level delusionist. I know that doesn’t seem like much with all the level inflation in recent editions, especially since we see the ones with epic feats around here, but it was a big deal once.

OK OK, so a bunch of folks have a screw loose and think it was all a setup, deeply unfortunate indeed, and harmless enough, I suppose, in and of itself. What I really really don’t understand is the effort put into harrassing participants. Y’know, share your views with like minded individuals, etc., but why the calling on the phone of a total stranger with the intent of making their life miserable? Where does that come from?

“Grief porn?” Heard of it, used it. Ditto for “recreational grieving.” But I really feel out of the loop because this is the first I’ve heard of “mourning sickness.” I must steal it.
