# Conspiricy theorist central

It used to be, back when, we’d actually fight these people.
These days, We have people questioning the liquid ban as a bush/blair whatever reaction to Lieberman losing. We have conspiracy theorists babbling about the ramsey girl’s killer lying.
I’m not going to attack half the people here for their strange beliefs, but maybe can we get a forum dedicated to conspiricy theories? This place is getting crazier than art bell’s site of late.

I fail to see how that is a conspiracy theory unless conspiracies include just one person. I have no idea whether he did it or not but false confessions aren’t very rare at all. I would say the odds are pretty good that he is lying and people here are pretty sharp for realizing that.

Hmmm an area for folks to open threads on conspiracy theories…
Naw, it might run a chance of collecting more kooks and eventually they’ll spill over and by attrition the war on ignorence will end.
Best to have a couple of threads pop up like goofy gophers to be bopped on the head than allow a wasps nest of nuttiness to form in the corner.
There got my animal allusions fixation out of my system.

Doesn’t anybody find it _strange_ that NASA lost the moon landing tapes almost exactly one month before the 5th anniversary of 9-11?

Conspiracy theorists, witches, revolutionaries…call them what you will. Gallileo was persecuted for being a crackpot in his day.
But if it makes you comfortable to accept what you see at face value without putting it in a larger context then I’m happy that you can experience contentment. Kind of like reading a badly written novel–it’s much more enjoyable if you just suspend belief and ignore anything else the author told you in the previous pages.
Dipshit. “Presumed innocent” is simply a euphamism for “Presumed guilty and we’re working on proving it.” If it were otherwise nobody would ever be arrested.

There are some events that are questioned now becuase of the immense amount of lying that the current administration does. At this point, they have lied about so many things, how can we trust anything that comes from them?

By using a few brain cells in your head. Sure, there are many things that Bush says that make one go :dubious: , but the example in the OP is a good one-- The UK terror plot being exposed because of the “Liebrman situation”. That hypothesis just doesn’t stand up to even a cursory examination of the facts.

And just what are the facts, **John Mace**? Has anyone in the British terror plot actually been charged with anything? What evidence has been produced? Were they actually in possession of explosives? Did they have terrorist training? Did they have plane tickets? Did they have passports? Did they have sufficent knowledge of chemistry to create the explosives on their own? There is [doubt that the described method of attack is even feasable](http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/08/17/flying_toilet_terror_labs/). Is there any evidence at all that they had the means to carry out these attacks? If there is, I haven’t seen it. Enlighten me, counsellor, with a cursory examination of the facts.
'Cause here’s a cursory examination of facts: The current administration lied us into a war that has killed tens of thousands of people. Why should I believe anything they say? If they said the sky was blue, I’d look out the fucking window.

Doesn’t matter. [As I said in the GD thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=7682635&postcount=74), if you wanted to influence an election, this would be about the worst time you could possibly pick to announce this arrest. Three weeks ago or 2 months from now would be the time to do it. There are two parts to this conspiracy theory, and the Liberberman part doesn’t fit.

I have to admit, the cognitive dissonance created by attempting to parse anything that comes out of the Bush Admin’s collective gob and juxtaposing that with reality could make the most circumspect and equanimous a bit paranoid.
