From what I’ve seen, being pro-pedophilia is pretty much the only opinion you can honestly hold and politely express on the SDMB and get banned for it. Just holding vile opinions isn’t usually enough. “Don’t be a jerk” has always been about your posting behaviour not the jerkishness of the opinions you express. Personally I think it’s one of the good things about these boards.
