Contact lens question

I promise it’s not vanity (this time). I see better with my contacts, I want to be able to wear sunglasses, and my glasses are also heavy and slide down my nose when I sweat. Oh, and glasses fog up, or get spotted with rain.

We’ll only be out for about three days, so I’m planning to wash my hands in boiled water and disinfect them with alcohol, and throw my lenses out at the end of the trip.

Dealing with contacts in the woods isn’t rocked science. Clean hands aren’t that difficult to achieve unless you are hiking in a landfill. Washing hands with soap and water, and using hand sanitizer when needed can do a fine job. I can’t speak for people with very sensitive eyes, but I’ve never had a problem with contacts for trips of a week or so. I know some AT thru-hikers who used contacts without any problems, and those hikes lasted up to 6 months.

Okay, that doesn’t sound too bad. (I was afraid your trip was 3 weeks long or something.) And, as I hope is clear from my previous post, as a long-time contact lens/eyeglasses wearer, I can totally relate to all of your reasons for wanting to wear lenses, especially the part about seeing better.
