Same as Kevbo—lens wearer since 1982, started with rigid gas-permeables and now they are like little blue drops of water, my contacts.
I love them. Natural beauty be damned.
I wear Accuvue Oasis. I love them. They’re daily-wear disposables. But I’m getting into the reading-glasses phase of my life, so I don’t wear 'em if I’m going to have to read much.
Ummm, my doctor prescribed certain lenses? Is the brand part of the prescription? It’s not that I’m unhappy with my lenses, I just want to know if I’m limited? What sites are people using to order their contacts?
I don’t believe you are limited to a specific brand. Your doctor may have ideas as to what would work best for your particular condition, or he may have a favorite brand and is trying to push them (mine told me about the Biomedics), but brand is not part of the prescription. You’re also not required to buy from your doctor’s office, even if they make it seem like the case. The laws governing contact lenses are tilted quite nicely in favor of the wearer.
Two sites I’ve found to be reliable are 1-800 Contacts and Contact Lens King. I haven’t done a comparison to find out which one is overall better, but CLK carries some brands 1-800 doesn’t and presumably the reverse is the same. To order from either of them, you’ll need the info from your prescription, including prescribing doctor so they can verify the prescription with the office.
