What are your guesses?
Mine is based on this:
Originally registered - 3-12-99
Posts as of right now - 6395
Days since registry - 546
Posts/day - 11.71
Predicted days until 10,000 posts - 307.8
Therefore, I put his 10,000’th post at being on **July 22nd, 2001** - my Birthday of all things!!!
Wow - that’s deep. Any other guesses?

Oh come on Handy can reach 10,000 long before that. He just needs some good threads. I think the summer months were a bit slow, so he will really pick up his post count with more activity going on.
So, I say Handy being the post stud that he is will make it on Feb. 14, 2001

Ah! But you all forgot the surf comes into Pacific Grove in the fall/winter [fewer posts]. Cold weather [more posts]. More women in my life [fewer posts]. Flu season [fewer posts]. Visiting London [much fewer posts]. Board crapping from too many posts [?] Could happen around July. Anyone want to use my account to make it sooner? Just kidding on that part:-)
My goal for sometime is to have as many posts as there are registered users, which as someone pointed out, near impossible.

PLUS, handy, I think you have just naturally been slowing down. I say you posted much more proliferenty in the beginning when everything was new… since then, slightly, ever so slightly you have been slowing down. There will be spurts of posts when people will laugh at me and think me wrong, but I KNOW that the average will play out in my favor.
Thats why _ **I** _ am betting on ONE YEAR FROM TODAYS DATE 09/16/2000!!
Scoff if you will… but I will have the last laugh!

Uhm! I don’t think anybody can reach the coveted 10000 mark.
I believe that the SDMB has a P10K problem–Post 10000 problem–which causes the counter to reset back to 00000 after the 9999th post. 😃

All right, I’ll give it a guess. I don’t feel he’ll take until July hit his mark. Most people start out posting rather slowly then gain momentum, I think. I feel in May, some time. And I’ll go with \*\*May 28th \*\*just because it’s my sisters’ birthdays.
I believe a pool is in order, with a mod to hold the wagers. I’ll be the first to try to bribe **handy**. How about, **handy**? Want to split the winnings? 😉

I say he doesn’t hit it at all. I have been losing posts for quite a while and, while there hasn’t been much discussion on it from the admin, I think they have got into the active phase of cutting out the dead threads. Has anyone else noticed that, or am I psycho? Or both?
Anyway, in case I’m wrong, I’ll vote for June 4th, 2000.

Demo, you may or may not be psycho, pal ( 😉 ), but you’re definitely right about post leakage. I noticed a week or so back that I made my 2816th post on three consecutive days and on Friday I noticed I’d slipped by about 3 or 4.
I’ve wondered if a stayed away for a couple of weeks if I wouldn’t see a 15+ post drop.

Oh yeah? I hit 1500 a few weeks ago, but then dropped down to around 1420. That tells me that they’ve finally caught up to sometime last September, because that’s when I started.
