Continuing a Discussion Against Mod Instructions

I don’t care if mod sanctions are carried out privately (though I was a mod on a board where we applied the same rules to mods as we did to posters, just as publicly, and it worked fine). But - forgive me if i missed it - but I have not seen any statement from the mods as to whether tomndebb’s behavior was considered a-okay or not.

Personally, I’d be happy with a statement to the effect of, “it’s not appropriate for moderators to use their powers to disappear their posts the way tomndebb did. This board’s policy is to handle infractions by moderators privately, so that’s all we’ll be saying on this topic.”

No. It was not “OK” for me to disappear a post. I post on a couple of boards where disappearing a post has the same effect as “nm” does on this board. I so rarely disappear a post on any board that I forgot that “nm” was the practice, here.

There was nothing insulting or provocative in what I posted and removed. It was a continuation of the discussion in progress and when I was scrolling back through the thread to verify a statement, I saw the Mod instruction to abstain from any further remarks, went back and deleted the post. It has been observed that my deletion occurred after 11 minutes instead of 5. This could be true. I do not notice time passing when I am reading or posting and I might have missed the 5 minute window.
