What’s weird to me about this story is that every bologna I’ve ever met required refrigeration. I’m guessing she didn’t have a fridge down under her floorboards, so what was she planning to do with all that meat? It seems to me they probably did prevent some illness.

When I glance at this thread title, it keeps reminding me of Loudon Wainwright III’s album title **Attempted Mustache**.

Was it really bologna? That might be baloney. Upon re-reading the article cited in the OP: The driver allegedly called it sausage. Then the writer of the news article, it looks like, called it bologna. From the photo, they look like they might be some kind of salami. Maybe those don’t need refrigeration.

If that’s a photo of the actual contraband, it’s labeled “salchichas.” While “salchicha” can refer to various kinds of sausage, normally they are [soft “hot dog” type sausages](https://static.vix.com/es/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/imj/vivirsalud/7/7-razones-para-no-comer-salchichas-8.jpg?itok=C6LYq4hj) rather than hard sausages like salami. They would be more like bologna than anything else.
