But he just gets SOOOO excited over all that rough weather! 😉 Seriously, I’ve noticed that too, although my friends and I have joked about there being something in the water at the station. A former classmate of mine now does commentary for TWC from time to time, maybe I’ll drop her a line and ask.

Up here in NYC we also have [Sam Champion](http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/bios/Bio_Sam_Champion.html). I swear he must be the best-dressed weatherman I’ve ever seen.

Eh. For a homosexual in NYC he’s not that well dressed. 🙂 [Although if I’m going to listen to someone talk about hot, steamy, uh, weather…it’d be him.]

I’m also going to take a credibility hit by admiting I watched this show, but that guy who “won” Average Joe also wanted to be a weatherman. He already had his name picked out and everything: Nick Storm, or something equally inane and contrived.

Well as far as I know he still lives in Connecticut, so does that factor in? 😉 Actually, I thought of it more as a statement about how weatherpeople dress in general. 😃

Storm is a nickname. His real first name is Elliot. I can’t find much of a cite for this, although growing up in NY when his father was still broadcasting I heard it a lot, but you can see here [http://www.brainyhistory.com/days/november\_25.html](http://www.brainyhistory.com/days/november_25.html)

“November 25, 1948 Born: Storm Field, [Elliot], NY, weatherman (WABC TV, WCBS TV)”

What the Channel 7 team lacks in contrived names, they make up for in bad grooming. Every time I see Kristin Wedemeyer I always think of Jerry Seinfeld’s line, “The most important factor in wearing lipstick is having to accept God’s decision on where your lips end.”

A little off topic, but my company used to have a metallurgist truly named G. Steele Irons.

I always thought a good name for a weatherman in Nashville would be Faron Warmer.

Here in the Seattle area, we have _double_ doppler radar. It’s, uh, twice as good, or something.

**Cervaise** , but isn’t that fancy radar on the network with weatherman Andy Wappler, so you have “Andy Wappler and his Double Doppler”?

At home, (Paducah, KY broadcast area) we have Cal Sisto and John Champion. Fairly normal names.

Here in Lexington, there’s Bill Meck, T.G. Shuck and whoever’s doing the weather this week on the ABC affiliate.

Only Mrs. Wappler knows for sure. 😉

I believe that was the name of Peter Gallagher’s weatherman character in ‘Short Cuts’.

No weird names for specific meteorologists that I can think of, but we do have The WAFB Storm Team with Sentry 9000 Doppler! with State Climatologist Jay Grimes! (He really is the state climatologist… I used to deliver papers to his office when I was a student worker at LSU.)

In contrast, the ABC affliate only has the WBRZ Weather Team with Doppler Storm Track Radar. They do have a Summer Jackson who’s a reporter, but unfortunately, she’s not one of the weather readers.
