I see: rather than make a case for why this guy’s objections are unfounded, you go, “Oogabooga! Racism!!” as if that meant anything by itself.
It is ooga… booga…
The clam that, just because a country is muslim/arabic, that it could be ‘pressured’ to allow terrorists to be low level managers is something that can’t be argued… there is no proof that it is what would happen, and no amount of ‘proof’ to the contray would simply be ignored by the ‘but it could happen’ belief…
The same arguement could have been made about the British and letting in IRA members, who wanted to get back at the US for not offically supporting them … but then that would be ‘silly’…
The UAE, as well as Bahrain make way too much money off the US, and get way too much support (from military consulting, to actual money) to even enterain such things… not to mention they are one of our staunches allies… but does that ‘prove’ they wouldn’t do it… of course not… but then you CAN’T prove such things…
ON the other hand… the US does not just grant visas (even though yes they will grant WORK visas to a company in such a situation), the individuals must to through the same process as anyone else entering the country…
Not to mention it is easier to enter as a student… than as a worker (fewer checks)… so this would be a silly way to try to get someone in the US… those students can also get jobs as security at the ports (which does the same thing)…
But yes… it smacks of an arrogance, if not racism; when we precieve other nations as not being able to be ‘above board’ because of the color of their skin, or the predominate religion in thier countries…
The operators at the port are not required to x-ray ANY cargo (by federal standards)… and they do not choose what containers get inspected; and has been pointed out several times aready, it is ILLEGAL for them to open containers… so what secruity issues are there now that were not there before?
There are much easier ways to get things in and out of the US than by buying a multibillion dollar company… and risk the welfare of your country (economically as well as risking military intervention)…
Hypothetical, nothing. How about the fact that al Qaeda has already publicly boasted of infiltrating the UAE government?
There has not been a single verified example of this… and al Qaeda routinely talks about how they have the US on the run… not sure we should really get our intelligence from them…
Exactly. That’s why I got it from the guy who used to head up Customs’ antiterrorist operations.
But apparently his expertise doesn’t mean much to you, just because of the conclusion he reaches.
