Well yeah, the guy is fucked up-looking NOW, but back in that era, the time frame of the movie, he was kinda cute, at least according to some of the other pictures I saw. Unless I’m just being wooshed. But man, was Mark E. Smith a meth addict or what? Hard living or something sure played havoc with his looks. It’s been interesting though, now that I’m reading more about The Fall, I’m realizing that the man was/is something of an insane genius.
I assumed the manager was joking about the fact that Ian had just taken a fall.
I think it was just a bit of inter group rivalry.
I caught it Friday night in SLC. I think it was a one night showing.
I really liked the stark, high contrast B&W & lack of incidental/background music.
I also recommend the compilation “Still.” Much like “Substance,” only a few more tracks. But it might be only available as an import, while “Substance” was released by Qwest Records in the US.
