Also, the Floyd-inspired protests have become much less common, the “antifa” narrative is down to a faint murmur, and the Loud Boys are starting to be seen as a real problem. So, things look to be starting to maybe get a little less bad, for a few months at least. ---

Not surprising at all. In the first part of the video, you can clearly see an armored vehicle leading the charge, and this is the problem with law enforcement today. Since the 1990s, the federal government has been subsidizing and essentially encouraging the militarization of municipal police departments nationwide. An entire generation of police departments has been trained to believe that they’re not officers of the law, but more like a local military force and that certain people are their enemies, with certain neighborhoods treated as war zones. I assume that they were ordering people inside their homes as part of a citywide curfew. Legally, they have the power to do that. But how they did that is a perfect illustration of the mentality that I described above: they’re not showing any discretion at al. They’re just bulldozing their way through the neighborhood and treating everyone in it as the condemned - and some of them wonder communities of color hate their fucking guts? Really? ---
