I believe the Indonesian football match incident deserves an honorable mention in this thread. The police were faced with some brawling in the stadium, so … they deployed tear gas. Inside a stadium. The deaths that occurred in the stadium were not literally because of unruly fans, they were caused by panicking constabulary who were not well trained enough to resolve a troublesome situation in a sensible way. Also, tear gas is illegal to use in martial combat, so why should there not be a civil ban on it as well? I continue to assert that guns make people stupid, whether they deliver small chunks of metal or large canisters of gas. ---
