> 1. Bullshit. It has fuck all to do with ALL unionized public service jobs, so stop fucking lying. It IS limited to the fucking police, because their bad apples are the fucking problem.

It’s a fundamental problem with unions that cause the problems, it’s not specific to police unions.

> [@](#):

> 1. When there are witnesses, a dead body, and enough evidence for the Feds to get involved, what the fuck kind of evidence do you need? And when the police departments themselves have official records of the “excessive force” guys acting besides.

For a criminal conviction? Proof beyond reasonable doubt that they are guilty. if you’re confused about what that means, it means that no-one upon seeing all the evidence could reasonably think there’s any other possibility than that the defendant committed the crime. A standard that’s not reached by posting a couple of videos and claiming that all cops are liars.

> [@](#):
>
> 1. Looking the other way, failing to properly report it, lying to the judge, and planting or hiding evidence to cover your buddies IS conspiracy. People go to jail for CONSPIRACY.

No, the first two are not, except in some very specific situations usually involving imminent danger to children. Otherwise, no-one has a legal duty to report a crime - although it could and should be a condition of employment as a cop to do so.

The other two are (probably, depending on the circumstances) criminal, and the latter could be evidence of conspiracy. But it doesn’t prove it.

> [@](#):
>
> 1. Farmers and fishermen are not the ones killing people or “just” framing or maiming them. And finally, enough with this “respeck da po-leece”. Respeck mah authoritayh!

A tiny fraction of cops are doing that. The rest - the ones that put their lives at risk to make yours safer - are not, and do, in fact, deserve your respect. And obviously their authority should be respected - to say otherwise is to say that you don’t want them to have power, in other words that you don’t want police at all. I mean, it’s obvious from your posts and those of many others here that you don’t actually want them, you just realise that that view is ridiculous and won’t express it.

What you are confusing is respect and obsequience, or deference. They are not the same thing, and not what is being called for.

> [@](#):

Obviously. That’s why the vast majority of them do. Even to idiots like you who want to destroy them.

Nope, I’m not wrong about anything. I’m factually correct about several things you clearly don’t understand, and my opinions are based on wanting a functional society. Yours are based on sensationalist news reports, a lack of understanding that you shouldn’t judge a group by it’s worst members, and a general sense that’s so common among those on the left that you are just generally better than everybody else.

Also, don’t fucking edit my posts when you quote them.

> Yeah, this douche nozzle we got here talks like there should be NO standards for police, they only standard is how subservient their victims should be.

There should be reasonable standards of behaviour for police, and reasonable standards of behaviour for the public. Those standards include doing what the fuck you are told, unless what you are being told to do is clearly illegal, and sorting it out in court later for the public. They include obeying the law, following departmental procedure, and not unnecessarily harming people for the police.

Where this breaks down is when you expect the police to go above and beyond what is expected of them, when a member of the public ignores their obligations. You expect cops being threatened with guns to calmly assess the situation and wait until they’ve been shot to do anything, you expect cops to somehow talk down people who a so off their faces on drugs that they don’t know where they are and present a risk to themselves and others. Basically, you expect every cop to be a highly trained expert on any situation they might encounter, which is ridiculous.

I don’t have _no_ standards for cops. But unlike you, I have reasonable, realistic ones.

Yes, we can all read everyone’s posts, which is why it’s so weird that your specific type of compulsive lying is about things that people have written to this thread.

Have you tried lying about something that’s not so easy to disprove?

You’ve made tens if not hundreds of posts about how the police are bad for black people, and how it’s reasonable for black people to hate them - it’s one of your main themes when posting on this subject. I know it, you know it, and anyone who’s read this thread knows it, and I’m not going through over ten thousand posts to prove something everybody knows.

Then it should be incredibly easy for you to find such posts. In case anyone forgets, here’s the specific claim you said about me: **“iiandyiiii has said that having a police force does more harm than good to black communities.”** Note the present tense. Note the direct comparison (that the harm is greater than the good). That’s a very specific claim.

You’ve either greatly misinterpreted my posts, or you’re just lying. Or can you find and cite a post and prove me wrong?

Nope, it was a full description of what should be done. And that involved doing as you are told, and fixing any wrongs later - except in the event that what you are being told to do is clearly illegal.

Do you really disagree? Do you think people have a right to resist arrest, or resist a search, when the police have told them they have probable cause? Of you do, you fundamentally do not want the rule of law.

In a society without strong courts and strong civil rights protections, I might think differently, but as this thread alone proves, every day people are getting injustices corrected. It would be better if those didn’t happen in the first place, but it would be far, far worse if we encouraged everybody to defy the police and treat them as an enemy.

You made a very specific claim about something I said. And I challenged you on it – I said that I’m pretty sure I hadn’t said that. I asked you for a cite.

That’s pretty reasonable, right? I don’t think I said that. You could just find a cite for the specific claim you made, and show that you’re right and I’m wrong about what I said. Or you could step back and think about it and consider that maybe you misinterpreted some things I said before.

But you’re choosing a different route. Why? If, as you said, I’ve said this specific thing tens or hundreds of times before, then it should be easy to find. Why not find some examples?

We’ve had some reasonable discussions before. This could end very reasonably – you could show that I did, indeed say that specific thing that you say that I said, or you could back off and say “maybe I misunderstood”, and ask me some reasonable questions.

But you’re the one who made a specific claim about me. Isn’t it reasonable, if I think you’re wrong, to challenge you on it?

Confusion? Sure. He was so confused that he shot someone he knew who was setting up a fucking tripod. The photographer says he doesn’t want the Deputy to lose his job. Which baffles the fuck out of me. Because he’s either a moron, a coward or someone just itching to shoot people.

For one thing, it’s pretty fucking difficult to search a ten thousand post thread. But in another [thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=826012), every post you make claims that the police are harming black people and that black people should hate and fear them.

Fortunately, **Shodan** and **Bricker** call you out on your bullshit there.

You’ve repeated the same flawed arguments in many threads. Basically, you seem to think that a black person who claims they have been mistreated should automatically be believed, but a cop that says someone was a threat, was resisting or whatever, should be expected to prove their point.

Here’s a couple of quotes where you say that the police lie about dealings with black people, just like they have done for 100 years, and that it’s reasonable for black people to hate and fear them.

> [@Should People of Color trust the police?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/should-people-of-color-trust-the-police/786433/14):
>
> So who can we trust on whether or not black people are mistreated by police if we can’t trust the reports of black people? Do you have any reason to believe that black people are more likely to lie about being mistreated by police than others?
>
> If the Sean Groubert and Charles Kinsey shootings hadn’t been recorded on video, do you believe that those officers would have been prosecuted? I don’t think they would have been. I also think it’s reasonable to consider that there might be a significant number of shootings that were in this vein (i.e. inappropriate shootings) that are recorded as “good” shootings, because there are no witnesses and no video. You might disagree, but then what could change your mind? Until all shootings are recorded, we only have the reports of black people (the ones who survived the encounters) and of cops to explain various incidents – considering that 150, 100, and 50 years ago it’s almost certainly true that black people would have been _more honest and accurate sources_ of what actually happened in these encounters than the cops of the time, I think it’s very possible that they still are.
>
> I see no reason to believe that black people are any less honest and accurate about how they are personally treated now than they were 50 years ago – I doubt if anyone would be surprised if a great majority of black people at the time reported mistreatment by police.

> [@Should People of Color trust the police?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/should-people-of-color-trust-the-police/786433/5):
>
> Whether they logically should or shouldn’t, it’s common sense that if someone has been mistreated by police, or as a child they saw their father or brother mistreated by police, or grew up hearing stories about family members who were mistreated by police, then they’re much, much more likely to (for rational and very human reasoning) be distrustful of law enforcement and view them as dangerous enemies to be feared. Most of the black people I’ve spoken to about this issue fall into one of these categories.
>
> This is a very, very serious problem for law enforcement, and increases risks to both them and the public, and is not likely to fix itself until we can go a generation or two in which very, very few children see family members mistreated by police, or hear multiple and consistent stories about family members mistreated by police, or are mistreated by police themselves.

In neither case are you even slightly concerned by facts, you just claim without any justification that the police are out to harm black people. Later in that thread, you claim that anecdotes that conflicts with actual evidence are more reliable.

And all that from a thread I didn’t participate in, so there’s no argument that I’m biased or trying to defend myself or whatever.

I’m sure there’s better examples, but this board is difficult to search for specific posts. Nonetheless, many people will have read and remembered your posts, not just me.

No one, not even you, has denied that there have been instances in which the police have harmed black people. That’s not the claim you made about me. You made a specific claim: **“iiandyiiii has said that having a police force does more harm than good to black communities.”**

While some police officers have certainly lied, I do not make a claim that all police lie. I have said that it’s reasonable for some black people to have negative feelings towards cops (which I’m pretty sure you haven’t even tried to dispute) based on their own life experiences, but that’s very different than “it’s reasonable for black people to hate and fear them”.

So no, I have not said these things you think I did. Not in the posts you’ve cited, and not anywhere else.

Nowhere have I said that “police are out to harm black people”. I’ve not said this in the quotes you cited, nor anywhere else. Nor did I claim that “anecdotes that conflicts with actual evidence are more reliable”.

More false claims about me. Why all the false and uncited claims about me? You’re grossly misunderstanding the things that I’ve said and refusing to read nuance and intricacy and complexity in my posts, or you’re just lying about what I said.

You’ve presented no example for your original claim about me. None at all. Again, this is what you said about me: **“iiandyiiii has said that having a police force does more harm than good to black communities.”**

I didn’t say that. I don’t believe that. You’re either grossly misunderstanding my posts, or just straight up lying.

If you make claims about people, you better be ready to back them up, because people have a tendency to challenge claims about them if they think you’re wrong. In this case, you’re wrong.

Not a big deal to be wrong. Happens to all of us. It just makes you look worse and worse if you dig and dig and refuse to consider that maybe you just misread and misinterpreted what I said.

It would be better if those didn’t happen in the first place, but it would be far, far worse if we encouraged everybody to defy the police and treat them as an enemy.

You lying, fascist mother fucker.

I have said repeatedly the answer is to make BAD cops answerable for their actions. I have said repeatedly that they need to be charged, go on trial, be convicted, and be sentenced. I have said repeatedly that these are known bad cops, who have histories of wrong and illegal actions, and yet they continue to wear a badge. I have also said repeatedly that there needs to be at least some effort at screening these types out before they get a badge, and to keep them from just moving on to some other department in another town.

So SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH YOUR NAZI ASS BULLSHIT.

I want that asshole to lose his job and face charges. Criminal charges. Guess which motherfucker here will have a problem with that.
