Rape is not a penalty that the law and the judicial system has established as an appropriate punishment for any crime. Prison rape is a crime just like any other form of rape, and people who gloat about the prospect of an inmate being raped are not advocates for the cause of justice. ---

The relatively small number of rapists give ALL men an undeserved bad reputation. Where’s the justice for the ruined reputations of all the men who would never rape and never have? Hmm? ---

Honestly, I’m not sure I have a strong opinion on the subject in general, since there doesn’t appear to be much evidence re:the effects of rape on rapists. Since the person in the news story was a cop, I’m all for it. This guy repeatedly raped (probably many women, since rapists tend to repeat offend) someone under his power as a cop. We paid him to rape her. I’m not super-cool with that. I have trouble experiencing compassion for anyone who would do that. Maybe I’ll learn it one day. I just don’t have it today. ---
