Because there is not enough money for proper training. Probably due to all the settlements cities have to pay as a result of improper training.

… and because we refuse to fire or arrest the bad ones. But if they just get fired, they just go to some other police dept anyway.

Right. You just keep telling yourself that. Likewise, cops NEVER catch fleeing suspects later on, am I right?

[This one](https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article214445144.html) has a mildly amusing quality to it.

Car cuts off police car, police pull over the car and find semi-automatics and what appears to be cannabis oil and heavy duty cough syrup in the trunk. Woman has nearly $20K in cash in her purse. Police go on TV shortly after to tout how a simple traffic stop can lead to a big bust.

Charges not filed for procedural reasons. The guns were legally owned and covered by a carry permit. The substances were never tested. The search was improper (“_You, pop the trunk so we can rifle through it_”). The cash was legitimate: the woman _earned_ her tips from, um, performing.

_“I felt that the glitter on the seized cash was compelling evidence, but apparently the police department disagreed," said defense lawyer Faccidomo._

And of course they were nice clean-cut white people. Wait, uh …

Today we go to [Maple Heights, Ohio for this white lady calling the cops on a 12 year old kid mowing a lawn for money](https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2018/06/30/a-white-woman-called-police-on-a-black-12-year-old-for-mowing-grass/?utm_term=.33f9656520a3).

> [@](#):
>
> Last week, in Maple Heights, Ohio, that entrepreneur was Reggie Fields, a 12-year-old middle schooler who is the owner and mower-in-chief of Mr. Reggie’s Lawn Service. His sister and two cousins also provided manual labor in their neighborhood outside Cleveland, working a rake and a broom to corral clippings.
>
> That’s what they told Lucille Holt-Colden, 51, who encountered them at a Dollar Tree where they were purchasing a gas canister and some lawn bags on June 23. Holt-Colden thought it was a good investment. Her grass was growing taller, and her $20 would be used to keep this particular group of black youths off the street and out of trouble.
>
> She was mostly right.
>
> As Reggie and his troupe were finishing up her yard, a Maple Heights Police SUV rolled up in front of Holt-Colden’s house.

> [@](#):
>
> “My neighbors that stay in that house right there,” she said, swiveling the phone as it recorded her on video. “So I guess I have a line where part of it is not my yard. They called the police to tell the police that the kids was cutting their grass. Who does that? Who does that?”
>
> She captioned the video: “This is RIDICULOUS!!!” a phrase she repeated several times during an interview with The Washington Post, along with “Who does this?”
>
> Reggie, it seemed, was not just getting a lesson in summer business economics; he was also being schooled in the 21st century phenomenon known as #LivingWhileBlack.

> [@](#):
>
> When the police came, Holt-Colden said, Reggie’s 9-year-old cousin was frozen with fear in her driveway, worried that he was in trouble.
>
> But Reggie kept mowing. The children were not cited or stopped by the police in any way.
>
> Still, Holt-Colden said she was upset that an officer responded in the first place.

Can’t say as I blame her, eh.

I suppose it one them “blessings” that the cops didn’t show up guns a-blazin’ like they did with Tamir Rice or something, tho.

Cops start chasing a guy who drives \*very \*slowly against L.A. traffic, probably drunk, and carefully avoids some spike strips until driving over one, and keeps going on with two flat tires… After an hour he stops and starts making some push-ups on the road.
[And survives !](https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2018/07/06/south-la-pursuit/) ( spoiler: he’s white )

Personally, if I’d been there I’d have slapped the kid too - no person of color should confront the police with their goddamn cell phone in their fucking hand. How many people have to get shot before that sinks in? It should be in that “Dumbest Ways to Die” video.

The cause and effect relationship.

They do not skimp on training because they are paying out due to lawsuits. They pay out lawsuits because the officers are poorly recruited, trained and supervised.

Of course. But no money for adequate training is a big excuse used by those who think it’s perfectly okay to shoot an unarmed black man because “I was afraid”

Racist berates woman for wearing shirt with Puerto Rican flag on it. The woman politely asks him to leave, saying she has a permit for the area she is in.

Officer, allegedly of the Cook County Forest Preserve Police Department, does nothing when she repeatedly asks him for a little help. Until a dude shows up, and the officer starts paying attention.
I confess I’m a little mystified by the vid. That hasn’t quite been beaten out of me yet.

That’s harassment, right?

Article from Chicago Sun Times:

I see that the harasser has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct. Not sure what the cop was thinking. Charitably, perhaps he is in the wrong line of work.

Heavy’s article:

> **[WATCH: Man Attacks Woman for Wearing Puerto Rico Flag Shirt \[FULL VIDEO\]](https://heavy.com/news/2018/07/man-attacks-woman-puerto-rico-full-video/)**
>
> A woman, Mia Irizarry, was attacked by a woman wearing a Puerto Rico flag shirt at the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Illinois, as a police officer stood by and did nothing.
