According to the cite -

> [@](#):
>
> The video, taken by a bystander, captured the chaotic scene that unfolded last Friday as officers tried to remove mother Jazmine Headley from the crowded office, where she had sat on the floor for two hours because of a lack of chairs. Police were called when she refused a security guard’s order to leave. The woman ended up lying face-up on the floor during a tug of war over her 18-month-old son.

It doesn’t say why she was told to leave. As to why she was arrested -

> [@](#):
>
> Headley was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and trespassing.

The outstanding warrant was for failure to appear on a credit card fraud case - the police didn’t know about that until later.

I know you’re stupid, so I’ll explain: the comments you think you were replying to were rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions aren’t real questions; they’re posed to make a point. Your reply (like the vast majority of yours) was unnecessary and added nothing to the discussion.

>
> !In America. Imagine being in jail for a year _waiting for a trial_ on a traffic offense or a minor drug possession charge or something similar. In the land of the free and the home of the brave.

That final line in the story almost appears to be included to generate outrage considering the complete lack of detail in it. It conspicuously doesn’t say that people have been held without bail hearings or exactly what their offenses are. From the context of the story we are to assume that they’re being held for traffic offenses and minor drug charges rather than murder or operating a meth lab. Many of the 600+ who have been there more than a year could be because their own lawyers are filing for extensions. Details matter and stories lacking details make me question why.

My guess is many of those 600 (and 2500) have had bail hearings, but the amount set was more than they can afford, so they sit in jail. If you’re near broke, the $5000 bail for your petty crime may as well be $500,000, because you don’t have the money. Hence the movement to eliminate bail for many arrests, because instead of doing what it is intended to do, get people to come back for their trial, it is instead keeping them in jail indefinitely.

That’s my guess as well, along with my opinion on the matter. But making us have to guess is completely unnecessary in a format where words are essentially free.

This looks like it had fuck all to do with law enforcement.

Pizzi says Dominguez wasn’t on the scene at the Pelican restaurant in Miami Beach when the incident occurred, but was able to obtain the video, which is a cellphone recording of a body cam video that is apparently playing on another screen.

So a cop who wasn’t there took a cell phone video of the playback of the incident. Sadly, this probably will not be good for Officer Dominguez’s career.

[Police Shot An Ohio Newspaper Owner. Now His Paper Is Going Out Of Business](http://radio.wosu.org/post/police-shot-ohio-newspaper-owner-now-his-paper-going-out-business#stream/0)

An Ohio newspaper owner stopped to take pictures of a police stop in progress. As he got out of his car, he was shot by a deputy sheriff, who thought his camera tripod was a rifle. When the deputy was exonerated, he sued the county for damages.

> [@](#):
>
> As bad as the shooting was, Grimm thought things would eventually get back to normal. But he says New Carlisle turned out to be what he calls a “back the blue” kind of small town, which lined up behind the sheriff’s department. Grimm says his sources with the county and city dried up, and people who saw him on the street walked the other way.
> …
> Grimm says over the course of a few months, subscriptions fell by about 300 at each paper. Ad revenue dropped by $2,000 a week.
>
> …
> With fewer people reading a paper with fewer ads, and less news because of alienated sources, Grimm and his father decided to cease publication of the New Carlisle Times and the Enon Eagle. They released their final issues on December 5. Both continue as online publications only.
>
> Grimm says he doesn’t know where they’d be today if the shooting never happened, but he says they’d definitely still be publishing.

A bank in Ohio refused to cash a black man’s paycheck even though he provide two forms of ID and a fingerprint, as was their requirements, and when he left, the called the cops on him because apparently a black man couldn’t possibly have a $1000 paycheck. _Until recently, Inglewood retained records related to officer-involved shootings for 25 years. Earlier this month, the City Council voted to reduce that time frame to five years and then voted to destroy the older records. Activists see it as an intentional effort to avoid the accountability promised by Senate Bill 1421, a new law that allows the public to obtain personnel and investigatory records for officers involved in shootings, sexual assault and misconduct._

Long Beach, similarly, is [going to destroy 23 years](https://www.presstelegram.com/2018/12/28/long-beach-quietly-destroys-years-of-internal-police-records-before-transparency-law-goes-into-effect-says-it-is-unrelated/?fbclid=IwAR0hW_bRmlQZh_65bysW1vJHx8fQoAcbBV-AujkTNQS7irgxt7UmLJL3obU) worth of Internal Affairs documents — but the move has nothing to do with the new law (they say).

Do NOT watch the video. I’m still furious.

A fucking Chihuahua was so menacing and terrifying, that a wannabe Barney Fife had to shoot it in the face. They actually gave that asshole a badge and a GUN.

He got fired, but unfortunately I hear he immediately got ANOTHER job with a badge and a GUN. What the fuck.
