Convertible hard-top cars: Great invention or POS gimmick?

It won’t matter to you in Miami, but I dream of a convertible (and will someday I swear it ) and when I was still living in Indiana I wanted a hard-top because it held the head inside of the car better than a soft top.

Again, won’t make too much of a difference in The Sunshine State, but for places that have both summer and winter, it makes a difference

I used to drive a Mitsubishi Spyder softtop convertible. I now drive a BMW 335 hardtop convertible. Night and day difference in noise levels. The Spyder was loud no matter what.
In the BMW, with the top up, it’s as quiet as any other car.

I’m very happy with my choice.
