Appologies for not reading every post. I’m just popping in to say that I don’t think MGBs are girly, gay or old-farty. Hey, whenever there’s a thread about drop-tops, Johnny L.A. has to make his obligatory MGB plug. 😉 The entry-level Porsche – the Boxster – is not gay or old farty. Of course, the 911/996 is better. ---

For the record, I don’t even know what gender my Cabrio is. It did just have the entire exhaust system redone, could that have transgendered it? for the b-side of the record: I am not gay, I am a girl, I do fart, but am not old. ---

Well **drop** , I’ve had five T-top or convertible models including the Zs and a Corvette and the SL has, without a doubt, found safe passage into my heart and fondest memories. Don’t let classic styling fool you. It’s a beast at heart (provided you go with the 5.6) and handles like a Ping iron. Plus, they’re built to last and accrued miles are less of a concern than on, say, a Mitsubishi 3000 GT. Then again, ain’t nuthin’ that’ll dust your shorts like what **Chefguy** posted. ---

Might I suggest the upcoming (or is it out yet?) Chrysler Crossfire convertible? The hardtop has a great musclecar look, and the pics I’ve seen of the ragtop look pretty damn schweet. A quick Google check tells me you’d have to wait till spring '05, alas. ---

You definitely want a '65 model; the GTO’s nice, but I prefer the Ford Galaxie 500 or Mercury Marauder (although the latter tends toward the old-fart end of the scale). Or a '65 Cadillac, if you want the “classic pimp” look. The early '60s Lincolns are cool, too (four doors!). But perhaps the young-straight-manliest convertibles are the '69-'71 [Buick](http://www.cruisenewsonline.com/Buick&OldCarBash/70BuickElectra.jpg)/[Olds](http://ultra.cto.us.edu.pl/pub/Multimedia/Pictures/Cars/Oldsmobile/1970.442convertible.01.jpg)/[Pontiac](http://www.avonhill.com/thumbnails/convertible/1970_Pontiac_Parisienne.jpeg), preferably in red. All the same basic car, just varying ugliness of grille. A guy I went to high school with had the perfect beater '70-ish Buck (the “I” had fallen off the hood): top ripped to shreds (and never up), grille completely missing, torn leather seats… ---

If I may, might I suggest the BMW Z4? I doubt that it’s gay, since James Bond drove one in one of the more recent movies. It’s the finest car I’ve ever owned and I would recommend it to any one. ---

I remember, however, that the little accellerator pedal was not easy on the feet after a couple hundred miles. I woke up thinking of convertibles this morning. I was thinking of a Ferrari. Red, of course. Last time I looked, Mondials were affordable. Nah. I’ll do home improvement first. ---

My parents’ black Porsche Boxter is pretty damn sweet. It was pretty damn cool when I drove it to my wedding…top down, my best man and I in our tuxes. Awesome car, good power, but not excessive. Outstanding handling, looks fantastic, and can be had for a reasonable amount of money. My parents’ is a '98 in mint condition, and only has around 20,000 miles on it, and they got it for around $25,000 a little while back. ---
