# Converting RealAudio file to other formats (.mp3, .wav, etc)

This is a follow-on to a question I posted here earlier this week…

I have a RealAudio file (actually, it’s an audio file, but the suffix is .rm, so I presume it’s a RealMovie file).

I would like to convert it to some other format – mp3, .wav, etc.

But [Real.com](http://Real.com) is very stand-offish in their formatting – I can’t find any application – by [Real.com](http://Real.com), or anyone else – that will let me do this.

Does anyone know how I can convert a .rm file? TIA,

PS: The material is musical performances of public domain material by me on a radio show, so while I can’t categorically say it’s not copyrighted, I don’t think anyone can castigate me for downloading it.

This is just a WAG (i’m at work so i can’t test it)…

RealJukebox lets you burn CDs from Real Media files (that’s what .rm is, not real movie). To burn a CD that plays in a regular CD player, you need it to be a .cda file, so I presume it makes the rm files into cda files.

Burn the rm file to a CD using RealJukebox, then conversely use a program that takes CD audio and makes it into another format (I like Audiograbber (free) but there are tons out there).

Waddya think?

Makes sense – I will check it out and let you know.

FWIW, I may have to upgrade RealJukebox – I don’t believe the version I have has CD burning capability. (And I did pay for it – it came as part of my mp3 player suite).

God, [Real.com](http://Real.com) is an evil outfit-- I may end up paying them a tithe to listen to my own music!

There is a program out there called STREAMBOX RIPPER that might be able to do it.

Altho, I like the above idea too.
