On the plus side, I found some cool Live CD distributions: SystemRescueCd (which is pretty much what it sounds like)

This is my goto tool when I have to diagnose/fix a Windows machine at work. At least part of it is just my familiarity with *nix tools, but IMHO it’s indispensible.
